Summary:
The Executive Director assumes primary responsibilities for implementation of the organization’s mission through planning and strategic direction, program management, fiscal administration, resource development, public relations, personnel management, and board development. The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors.
Specific Responsibilities:
-Ensure fund and program development strategies that sustain and expand the agency’s mission, vision, programs, and services
-Build relationships with current and potential funders, including government agencies, corporations, foundations, and individual donors
-Provide leadership to fundraising efforts, including overseeing the submission of grants proposals, coordinating fundraising and donor campaigns, and file grant reports
-Provide leadership, support, and responsible supervision while ensuring performance feedback, goal setting, and professional development of the staff
-In collaboration with the board develops financial planning, reporting, and budgeting
-Ensure proper financial management
-Facilitate and support the Board of Directors’ role in strategic planning, fundraising, and community relations
-Participate in annual performance feedback reviews by the Board of Directors
Qualifications:
-Integrity, high ethical standards, and a commitment to diversity
-Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree preferred
-Passion for refugee and education issues and experiences
-Experience in non-profit management, including a working knowledge of the laws governing charitable organizations
-Experience with successful fund development (including grant writing), and grant management
-Exceptional organizational, analytical, writing, verbal, and interpersonal skills
-Demonstrated experience supervising, mentoring, motivating, and engaging staff, and experience in leading and managing multiple projects
-Collaborative management style, excellent communication and team-building skills, and ability to create constructive partnerships among diverse constituencies
