Volunteer Services Coordinator

Habitat for Humanity of Kent County seeks to fill the position of Volunteer Services Coordinator within the Volunteer Services Department. This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Volunteer Services Manager and will work primarily Tuesday-Saturday from 7am-4pm. The Coordinator will provide sufficient volunteers for all organizational needs in conjunction with other team members. The Coordinator helps ensure that all public relations, community outreach, and volunteer recruitment efforts provide a consistent message about the mission of Habitat and its need for community partners. The Coordinator will schedule volunteer groups, conduct volunteer orientations, maintain the integrity of volunteer information in the database, and support other needs within the department.

Position Responsibilities: Support other departments through registering and scheduling individual volunteers and groups and maintain a portfolio of between 30-70 groups during peak season. Be responsible for daily construction work site starts and hosting morning volunteer orientations on the sites. Support the Volunteer Services team in organizing and hosting monthly new volunteer orientations. Ensure volunteer schedule is updated accurately and timely changes are made as provided by the Volunteer Services Manager in conjunction with the Construction Department. Oversee the Community Service Volunteer Program for construction sites and all 3 ReStores including tracking hours, reporting, scheduling and onboarding new volunteers. Support the administration and data entry into Raiser’s Edge; manage the sorting and filing process for volunteer waivers. Manage inventory and ordering of hospitality items.

Some college preferred or 2 years equivalent experience in volunteer management, event planning, communications, etc. Qualified candidates must be willing to work in non-traditional work settings (construction sites, warehouse, ReStore, as well as in the office), have a strong work ethic, and be committed to and enthusiastic about the mission of Habitat Kent. Must have exceptional attention to detail, be self-directed with strong organizational skills and flexible in adjusting multiple priorities quickly as circumstances dictate. Candidates must have strong demonstrable verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and able to work well with diverse groups of people including the ability to frequently speak in front of small and large groups. Ideal candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office and online databases and social media; (Volunteer Hub and/or Raiser’s Edge exposure desired). A valid driver’s license, safe driving record and reliable and consistent personal transportation is required. Travel mileage is reimbursed. Must be able to walk, kneel, and lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
