BOARD CHAIRS

Becca Waite | Administrative Coordinator, Kennari Consulting | becca@ynpngr.org

Becca, a grad of the Aquinas Community Leadership program, enjoys Grand Rapids' vibrant nonprofit community and top-notch breweries. When not living and working the city, she loves forests and the challenge of traveling abroad. She values YNPN as a platform to connect leaders and promote community.

Autumn Hubbard | Annual Giving Officer, Grand Valley State University | autumn@ynpngr.org

Autumn's passion is working with nonprofits to cultivate a strong, sustainable donor-base through strategic planning, communications, and development. When not nerding out on nonprofits, Autumn enjoys exploring Grand Rapids' top-notch restaurants, hiking, and volunteering. Her favorite part of YNPN.GR is the opportunity to connect with individuals from a wide range of nonprofit professions, while growing leadership skills and community collaborations. She has her Masters in Public Administration from GVSU, with a concentration in Nonprofit Management and Leadership.

 

SECRETARY

Kasie Pickart | Communications Specialist, Cherry Health | kasie@ynpngr.org

Kasie's passion is engaging in health care advocacy and policy, including educating elected officials. During her board term, she wants to create opportunities for others to network, learn, and develop skills as they begin their careers in the Grand Rapids community while keeping their passion for the nonprofit industry alive and thriving. When she is not at work, she enjoys kickboxing, taking her Morkie, Mila, on walks, trying new restaurants and burying herself in a good book. Kasie is the recipient of the 2018 Michigan Primary Care Association Peer Leadership Award for advocacy work at Cherry Health and holds a Master's of Public Health with an emphasis in Health Policy & Administration from GVSU.

 

TREASURER

Claire has been involved with YNPN.GR for quite some time and values it's wonderful network of professionals in our community. She loves that it is a group of individuals who are all striving to better our community all while working to better ourselves. When not at work, Claire enjoys spending time with her family and friends, practicing yoga, and baking! 

 

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING CHAIRS

Angela Freier | Development Director, Opera Grand Rapids | angela@ynpngr.org

Angela is a passionate about her family, music and the arts, animal protections and care, LGBTQ and equal rights for all, and always doing what is right. She was motivated to join the YNPN.GR board to get more involved with the development culture here in GR, and to be a supportive voice for young professionals in this field because she recognizes it is a challenging role to play in any organization. When not at work, she loves spending time with her husband and two children (And taking them to Disney World!) She also enjoys reading, coloring, shopping, crafts, movies, video games, and cleaning and organizing. Angela originally pursued her Undergraduate and Graduate studies in Opera performance, but then switched to a Master's Degree in Non-Profit Management from Florida State University. 

Kevin Peterson | Nonprofit Services Program Coordinator, Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy | kevin@ynpngr.org

Kevin is an advocate for developing strong communities through resident engagement and empowerment. When not completing homework from his classes in the Master of Public Administration - Nonprofit Management & Leadership program at GVSU, you can find Kevin kayaking, walking Aman park, snowshoeing, or likely volunteering out in the community. Kevin values YNPN-GR for its potential to both lift and support local talent by providing accessible and quality professional development and networking opportunities.

 

MEMBERSHIP CHAIRS

Taylor Crison | Program Coordinator, Boys & Girls Clubs of GR Youth Commonwealth | taylor@ynpngr.org

Taylor is passionate about working with kids and she loves being able to share in their intelligence, curiosity, and considers it a great privilege to be a part of their journey. When she is not working, you can find her spending time with her family, scouting out new restaurants, and when it's warm, she is most definitely at the beach. Seeing her peers be involved in YNPN.GR and knowing the community YNPN.GR builds motivated her to join. She is looking forward to growing professionally and doing her part to help others do the same. 

Halle Billinghurst | Event Manager, Hope Network | halle@ynpngr.org

Halle loves that YNPN gives her the opportunity to connect with fellow Young Professionals in the nonprofit sector that share similar passions that she may not be able to connect with at work. She looks forward to putting these aligned passions into action within her term on the board. When she is not working, she enjoys traveling, reading, running, checking out new restaurants in Grand Rapids, and spending time with friends and family. 

 

LEADERSHIP AND RECOGNITION CHAIRS

Liz Warners| Philanthropic Services Associate, Grand Rapids Community Foundation | liz@ynpngr.org

Liz loves knowing an organization is working efficiently and smoothly, as well as getting to know donors and philanthropists on an individual level. After getting involved in YNPN a few years ago, Liz has found it comforting to know that her peers were going through the same struggles, growing pains, and celebrations. She is very grateful for the community that YNPN provides and it has allowed her to meet individuals that she would have never met otherwise. Currently, Liz is learning web development and is enjoying the challenge and rewards! When not working, she can be found at the movies (about twice a month), reading, watching Netflix, or walking her dog.

Arianne Hall | Development Director, Flat River Outreach Ministries (FROM) | arianne@ynpngr.org

Arianne loves connecting with donors and learning their passions, as well as working internally in nonprofits to build and develop teams. She spends her free time comparing vanilla lattes at all the local coffee shops, or planning her next adventure around the world. She has a bachelors in Communication and Journalism from Cornerstone University.

 

DEVELOPMENT CHAIRS

Jodi Petersen | Owner and Lead Researcher, Petersen Research Consultants | jodi@ynpngr.org

Jodi is passionate about helping organizations maximize their impact through using data and a systems perspective, and she holds a Doctorate in Ecological-Community Psychology. When she is not at work, you can find Jodi spending time with her husband and two daughters or doing yoga! Jodi believes that YNPN is a great way for people in the nonprofit sector to network with one another and build a community of individuals who can relate to the unique challenges and rewards of the nonprofit sector. 

Margaret Smitt| Development Coordinator, John Ball Zoo | margaret@ynpngr.org

Margaret's passion is to create an equitable West Michigan community. Currently, she pursues this by raising funds and awareness of accessible healthcare for those that need it most. She was motivated to join the board because she loves how YNPN.GR members work hard to make Grand Rapids the great city that many love! When she is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, baking, and trying new (and old!) breweries around West Michigan. 

 

MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS CHAIRS

Rachel Humphreys | Development Director, Affinity Mentoring | rachel@ynpngr.org

Rachel is passionate about education, community-building, and empowering youth through mentorship. What she values about YNPN is the support and leadership opportunities for young nonprofit professionals. When Rachel is not at work, she enjoys refinishing furniture, walking her dog, Emilio, and exploring local restaurants with her husband and their twin daughters. She holds a Master of Science in Communication Studies from Grand Valley State University, focused on organizational leadership and inclusion initiatives.

Hanna Gibson | Annual Fund and Events Specialist, Sunset Retirement Communities | hanna@ynpngr.org

Hanna loves hearing what connects a donor to the mission of an organization and making them feel valued and heard through consistent communications and marketing. Her favorite part of YNPN.GR is being able to connect with peer professionals and the opportunity to be connected to a wider array of types of nonprofits. When not at work, she enjoys reading, playing video games, cooking, and binge watching Netflix documentaries.

Dia Noble | Community Engagement Coordinator, Friends of Grand Rapids Parks | dia@ynpngr.org

Dia is passionate about empowering people to be confident in who they are and wants people to become the best versions of themselves in pursuing their own individual callings and purpose. Her personal mission statement is, "To be a lighthouse to people that they will be empowered to live in their purpose." When Dia is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family, weight training, and exploring new experiences. She joined the YNPN.GR board because of the potential to not only learn more about the organization, but to offer a different perspective on engaging young professionals. She was new to Grand Rapids a few years ago and there were several things she wished she knew that would have helped her transition to a new city.

Rosario Parada | Program Coordinator Assistant, The National Kidney Foundation of Michigan | rosario@ynpngr.org

Rosario is passionate about healthcare, nonprofits, programming, mentoring youth, and community outreach. She loves being a part of YNPN.GR because she believes this organization will bring about change by providing resources and education to leading professionals to help unrepresented communities. When not at work, she loves spending time with loved ones and watching movies. She is currently in Ferris State University's LEADeres course.
